What's in a name? Our customers regularly ask us about the meaning behind the name Goblin. Are we folklore fans? Do we have a dark side? Is there a story? Yes, and that story is simple:
We love to eat (gobble!) and can get a little mischievous after a drink (just like the goblin). It is a cheeky jeu de mots inspired by owner Eliot Ritchie's playful passions for coffee, food and wine.

Goblin nights are here!
The Goblin tale
Our kitchen is your kitchen.
Owner/Chef Eliot Ritchie is passionate about serving fresh produce and exceptional coffee. His experience spans restaurants and cafes in Sydney's CBD and Inner West including Longrain, Onde and Revolver, as well as a sojourn in London. But, it was his love for the cafe lifestyle that saw the Sloane Street premises become a little Goblin in June 2012.
Located on the residential side of Summer Hill train station, Ritchie's focus has always been on the community experience a residential cafe can bring. With the gentrification of the local area he decided it was time for Goblin Cafe to mature (and let the good times continue into the night!).
The concept behind Goblin Kitchen & Bar ensures Ritchie's signature cafe meals continue by day, with the space transforming to offer a European-style bar experience of an evening. Ritchie has designed a seasonal bar menu to compliment a succinct wine list and unique cocktail offerings, all with the intention to be enjoyed amongst friends. Goblins are, after all, social creatures.

What people are saying about Goblin aka Sydney's newest small cocktail bar:
NEW SYDNEY SMALL BAR
Cosy, laid back and somewhat bohemian, Goblin Kitchen and Bar is the latest Sydney small bar to open, and we reckon this place has the goods.
Restaurant - Goblin Kitchen and Bar
Less than a minute from Summer Hill station. It’s buzzy but laid-back and cosy. It has outdoor seating on the pavement and under jacaranda trees in its spacious courtyard.
Many of our ingredients are house made & we have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available for most of our menu items.
